About BHG

Black Hills Gymnastics started in 1994 and was located in Tumwater with approximately 6000 square feet serving 200 families. In 1996 BHG was purchased by Alisa and her parents. The business was moved to Lacey within the first six months of ownership.  BHG grew in that location to 365 students, including unstoppable competitive team programs.

The business originally focused mainly on competitive gymnastics with a focus on developing elite level girls and boys teams. During the first ten years however, Black Hills Gymnastics outgrew the space and began to diversify.  BHG teams finished season after season undefeated and  accumulated hundreds of State, Regional, and National titles.

In 2004 it made sense to move to a bigger building in Hawk’s Prairie and focus more attention on recreational gymnastics.  At the time, it was somewhat of a gamble because the area was undeveloped.  We moved with 180 athletes and grew to four times that within ten years.

In 2008, the development of Tumbling Tots Preschool filled another need in the community with quality early education combined with fitness awareness.  With record high enrollment in 2010 (nearly 1000) we opened a second facility in West Olympia, the Black Hills Family Activity Center.

In January of 2014, we introduced two new programs, The Black Hills Party Plex and Black Hills Fitness.

This dynamic growth has been due to excellent staff, diversified programs, outstanding curriculum development, investment in facilities & equipment, and most of all, careful attention to the progress of each individual team and recreational program member.
